The material must consist of only one specific alloy, composed of brand-new, clean, uncoated aluminum castings, forgings, and extrusions. It must be free from sawings, stainless steel, zinc, iron, dirt, oil, grease, and all other non-metallic impurities.

Tread or extrusion aluminum scrap is generated during the process where aluminum is extruded through a shaped die to form specific cross-sectional profiles. This results in off-cuts, leftover ends, or rejected pieces during production. Since aluminum retains its properties even after recycling, these scraps are highly valuable in the recycling industry.

Recycling this type of aluminum scrap typically involves re-melting the metal, removing any impurities or contaminants, and refining it for reuse in new aluminum products. This recycling process consumes only about 5% of the energy required to produce primary aluminum.
